Types of Massage

Swedish/Relaxation Massage

A hands on full-body massage of medium pressure. A wonderful way to release stress, and rejuvenate your mind & body.

Swedish massage relieves muscle tension, stimulates circulation, increases serotonin levels(the feel good hormone), and improves muscle tone.

Swedish massage also provides relief from many physical ailments, such as: poor immune function, depression & anxiety, insomnia, poor circulation, headaches, mental fatigue, muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries, and low back and neck pain.

 Deep Tissue Massage

A firm pressure therapeutic massage that works deeper into the tissues. Many people mistakenly believe that Deep Tissue massage should hurt, and that if the therapist applies more pressure, pain will instantly be relieved. In reality, Deep Tissue massage should not hurt, though it might be uncomfortable in comparison to Swedish massage. I will always encourage you to say something if the pressure becomes too much to handle.

Deep Tissue massage is great for people who sit or stand in one position all day or who engage in physical activity on a regular basis. Muscles tend to compensate for one another, which can create an imbalance in the muscular structure of the body.

Deep Tissue massage serves to ease the tension in over-compensating muscles and to alleviate stress on particular muscle groups. Deep tissue massage can also help alleviate pain, muscle spasms, inflammation and tissue damage.

 Aromatic Body Stone Therapy

I learned this Hot Stone Therapy Technique from one of the two founders of this type of massage. It is a combination of:

Aromatherapy which is the use of essential oils for their medicinal and therapeutic qualities, both being inhaled(aroma) and absorbed through the skin. They can help soothe, revitalize, uplift the spirit, encourage positive thinking, and boost the immune system enabling the body to heal itself.

Hot stone therapy  uses special stones that hold in heat which is then transferred to the body. The heat relaxes the muscles and the effects of the massage are deeper. The pressure, weight, and heat of the stones encourages lymph movement throughout the body. Hot Stone Therapy also helps with circulation, muscle tension, and calms your nervous system.

I am able to do the Hot Stone Therapy without the essential oils if you request.

On-site Chair Massage

An efficient  fully clothed massage that improves circulation, stimulates muscles, and reduces tension in the back, neck, and shoulders.

These massages can either be done in an office location, or event which makes it convenient, relaxing, and helps relieve stress.

I do require a 2 hour minimum when traveling to your location of choice.

(So sign up your friends, family, and co-workers)

 Trigger Point Therapy

Ever had a knot in your shoulder that if pressed it would send pain into your head or around your shoulder? That is most likely a trigger point.

These little gems can be found almost anywhere in the body and are usually caused by micro tears in the muscle or repetitive-use injuries that didn't heal quite right.

Trigger Point therapy is an application of slowly increasing non-painful pressure over a trigger point until the tissue releases, and the tension and tenderness decrease.

 Myofascial Release

Fascia is a thin layer of connective tissue that wraps around everything in your body and connects everything to everything else. It surrounds your bones, muscles, and even your organs!

Fascial restrictions are caused when your body thinks you need extra support in certain areas such as after an injury or especially if you are in one position for long periods of time. For example, if you sit at a desk all day on the computer. Your body thinks you want to be in that position so it lays down extra collagen to help keep you in that position(this is a fascial restriction) this will cause tension in your upper back and shoulders because those muscles are now in a stretched position and it becomes harder and harder for you to bring your shoulders back into a neutral position.

Myofascial release is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into the myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and improve motion.

Because this technique requires no oil I try to integrate a small amount into all my massages at the beginning. Unless you inform me you do not enjoy it or don't find it beneficial.
